Businesses

The Businesses tab is the gateway to accessing individual business entities in Manager.io. This is the first screen visible upon launching the app.

Businesses

Viewing and Selecting Businesses

On the Businesses screen, you'll find a list of all businesses you have added to Manager. Click the name of a business to access and manage its data.

Adding a New Business

To create a new business:

  1. Click the Add Business button.
  2. Select Create New Business from the drop-down menu.

For detailed steps, see Create New Business.

Importing an Existing Business

If you wish to add a business from an external backup or previously exported file:

  1. Click the Add Business button.
  2. Select Import Business.

Read Import Business for more information.

Removing a Business

To delete a business from Manager:

  • Click the Remove Business button next to the business you wish to delete.

See Remove Business for details.

Backing Up Your Data

  • If you use DesktopEdition, regularly back up your businesses to safeguard your accounting data.
  • CloudEdition automatically backs up your data, but you can also create your own backups for additional security, similar to DesktopEdition.

For backup procedures, refer to the Backup guide.

Managing Data File Size

As your data grows—through transactions, contacts, inventory, and other entries—the accounting data file may become larger than necessary. You can compact your data file by:

  • Navigating to the Businesses screen.
  • Clicking on the file size for the relevant business.

See the Vacuum guide for more information.

Application Data Folder and Cloud Storage

If using DesktopEdition:

  • Your data is stored in the default application data folder, which varies by operating system.
  • To move this folder (for example, to a cloud-synced location like Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or iCloud), click the Change Folder button. This allows you to automate backups via your preferred cloud service.

Refer to Change Folder for more details.

User Roles and Business Visibility

  • If you are logged in as an Administrator (on CloudEdition or ServerEdition), you can see all businesses.
  • Non-administrator users will only see businesses assigned to them by an administrator. Assignments can be streamlined via the Users tab.

For more about user roles, see Users.

Handling Corrupt or Incompatible Databases

  • Manager will not open a corrupted business data file. Consult Corrupt Database for troubleshooting.
  • Manager may also refuse to open databases imported from a newer version of the software. See Newer Version Required for guidance.

For further information about any of these procedures, consult the linked detailed guides or use the in-app help resources.
