Backups and Data Security
Desktop Edition Users:
- Regularly back up business data files to safeguard against loss. See Backup.
- By default, your data is stored in a predetermined folder, varying by operating system. You can move this default location to a preferred synced folder like Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or iCloud for automatic data backup. Click on Change Folder to set this up. See Change Folder for detailed instructions.
Cloud Edition Users:
- Manager automatically backs up your business data in Cloud Edition; however, you can also periodically create your own backups for extra precaution. Refer to Backup.
Compacting a Business Data File
Over time, your business file may grow larger than necessary. To reduce the size and improve performance:
- Go to Businesses and click the file size shown for the specific business.
- For further details, see Vacuum.
Administrative Access on Cloud and Server Editions
- If you are logged in as an Administrator, you can see all businesses.
- Non-admin users only see businesses assigned to them by an Administrator. To manage assigned businesses and user permissions, consult the Users guide.
Resolving Database Issues
Under certain circumstances, Manager may refuse to open a business database:
- If the database is corrupt, refer to Corrupt Database for troubleshooting steps.
- If you attempt to open a business database that was imported from a newer Manager version than you currently have, Manager will refuse to open it. Consult Newer Version Required for instructions to resolve this issue.
Always keep regular backups and use the proper guidance outlined above to maintain your business data securely.
