Set up and use the GST Return for New Zealand

Manager includes the GST Return report for New Zealand. This report is available as part of the business localization feature, which streamlines the localization process. Because the report contains specific content, some setup may be required, depending on the status of your business.

Set up new businesses

If you are adding a new business in Manager and set its Business Location to New Zealand during initial setup, you will automatically have access to this report and everything that supports it. No manual setup will be required. Specifically, the following will automatically be added to your business:

Custom Field

  • Business Details — Registration number

Report Transformation

  • GST Return

Tax Codes

  • GST 0%
  • GST Exempt
  • GST 15% on Imports
  • GST 15%

Set up existing businesses

Setting up an existing business on Manager is slightly more complex. Fortunately, you only need to do this once.

This setup process must be completed separately for each New Zealand business in Manager. Localization settings and features do not carry over from one to another.

To more completely understand the importation process, read this general Guide before setting up a business for this particular report.

Go to Settings and clickImport in the top-right corner:

30%20AM 52%20AM

Select New Zealand and click Next:

Click inside the Import field and select the custom field, report, and any tax codes you will use (you must click and select multiple times):

Then click Import. The report will be added to your Reports tab and any additional tax codes you selected will be available in the Settings tab under Tax Codes. The custom field will be added to Business Details in the Settings tab.

If you accidentally select a tax code you have already been using, no hard will occur. Tax codes can only be added to a business once.

Use the report

Go to Business Details and enter your registration number in the custom field.

Now go to the Reports tab and click on the report:

Then create a new report, which will look like this:

Lines 9 and 13 are not supported, because Manager stores no data related to external adjustments.
