Starting balance — Investment — Edit

In Manager.io, setting up starting balances for your investments allows you to accurately track your investment portfolio from the beginning. This guide explains how to set up the starting balance for an investment.

Accessing the Investment Starting Balance Form

  1. Navigate to the Investments tab in Manager.io.
  2. Select the investment you want to set up a starting balance for. If you haven't created the investment yet, create it first under the Investments tab.
  3. Click on the investment to open its details.
  4. Click the Edit button to access the investment form.

Completing the Starting Balance Form

The investment form includes the following fields for setting up the starting balance:

Investment

Ensure the correct investment is selected. This is the investment you are setting the starting balance for.

Starting Balance

Enter the quantity of units you own for this investment. This represents the number of shares, units, or any measurable quantity of the investment you hold at the starting date.

Market Price

Enter the market price per unit of the investment. This is the price of a single unit at the starting date.

Manager.io will automatically calculate the total market value of your investment by multiplying the Starting Balance (quantity) by the Market Price.

Example:

  • Starting Balance: 100 units
  • Market Price: $50 per unit
  • Market Value: 100 units * $50/unit = $5,000

Saving the Starting Balance

After filling in the necessary fields:

  1. Review the information to ensure accuracy.
  2. Click the Update or Create button at the bottom of the form to save the starting balance.

Your investment starting balance is now set up. Manager.io will use this information to accurately track the performance and value of your investment portfolio.

By setting up your starting balances correctly, you ensure that your financial records in Manager.io reflect the true value of your investments from the outset.
